Last month, Stone Soup Production Company traveled to South Korea for the Busan International Film Festival and the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) — a pivotal stop in the global film calendar and an increasingly powerful hub for storytelling, financing, and co-production opportunities across Asia and beyond.

Representing our slate — including Extranjera, Memento Mori, and several exciting upcoming international projects — we joined leading producers, financiers, and distributors searching for bold new cinema & TV built on cross-border collaboration.

A Center of Global-Asian Collaboration

Busan continues to establish itself as the beating heart of Asia’s film ecosystem. From the energy at the BEXCO exhibition halls to the world premieres across the city, we were inspired by the ambition and creativity driving new partnerships in the region.

For Stone Soup, the core objective was clear:

Position Taiwan as a world-class co-production partner while connecting our stories with global champions.

Conversations and strategic meetings highlighted Taiwan’s advantages for international productions — streamlined logistics, bilingual crews, diverse and cinematic locations, and competitive production support systems.

Showcasing Extranjera

Extranjera remains a centerpiece of our slate — a cross-cultural, deeply human drama connecting Puerto Rico and Taiwan. Buyers and festival programmers at ACFM expressed strong interest in the project’s global appeal and emotional resonance.

We focused meetings on:

  • Financing partnerships across Asia & Europe

  • Co-production models rooted in Taiwan

  • Distribution for Spanish- and Mandarin-language markets

The feedback was clear: now is the perfect time for this story about migration, identity, and belonging.

Taiwan on the Global Map

We were proud to stand alongside other talented Taiwanese producers and creators — reminding markets across Asia that Taiwan is a place where international films can be developed, produced, and brought to life at a world-class level.

From strengthening distribution pathways to building new financial partnerships, our presence in Busan reinforced:

✅ Taiwan as a trusted, bilingual co-production partner

✅ Taiwan as a creative engine for bold cinematic ideas

✅ Taiwan as a gateway between Asian and Western storytelling

Looking Ahead:

We returned from Busan excited by:

  • New financing prospects for our slate

  • Expanding regional distribution contacts

  • Stronger cross-Asian alliances

  • The continued international momentum of Taiwanese cinema

As we look toward the next market — and the next major milestone in each project — the message is clear:

🎬 Taiwan has global stories to tell, and we’re just getting started.
